The main objective of this Center is to do research in the area of ethics, intelligent spirituality and sustainability.
Sustainable Development requires conservation and preservation of natural resources and of the environment, and for that a sustainable mindset is required. When inner fulfilment and restfulness is achieved through techniques of meditation, mindfulness, heartfullness etc. – then that mind also cares for sustainability and the bigger picture.
The main objective of this center is to do research and management development programs in the area of ethics, intelligent spirituality and sustainability. Ethics in business and society are of paramount importance and it has gained even more importance recently due to several corporate scandals recently. There has been more focus on ‘being’ as compared to ‘doing, hence there has been a big requirement for a center which does research and training in these areas and focus on the ‘inner journey’ as compared to ‘outer journey’. Transforming ‘self’ is being considered as the most effective way to transform the organizations to the next orbit and bring transformational change for the betterment of the world.
The centre will organize development programs to sensitize corporate and organizations towards this mission and also guide them for effective utilization of their CSR funds towards sustainability and MDGs.
The Center (CESS) is a multidisciplinary research and education centre which visualizes becoming a prominent Centre of Excellence through Teaching, Training, Research and Advocacy in the area of Ethics, Intelligent Spirituality and Sustainability by creating and disseminating knowledge. The Center aims at emphasizing on various thematic areas and taking initiatives to pilot or rollout programs towards ethical behavior, intelligent spirituality and sustainable development challenges.
For this, the centre would form various thematic groups. These groups would be comprised of faculty members, professionals, Govt. officials and corporates to promote solutions to key challenges of ethical behavior and sustainable development. The approach would be research oriented as well as practical solution oriented. Various thematic areas of focus would be: Education, Health, Wellness, Corporate Development, Mind Management and Self-Management.
The whole gamut of mind, body and spirit, thought process, effect of society etc. are examined critically and several workshops and innovative courses are conducted as a part of this centre – such as ‘business ethics and value clarity’, ‘value of values’, self-awareness and inner joy’, ‘from success to significance’ among others.
In addition, several eminent speakers are invited regularly for guest talks and interactions with students and faculty members. The Centre also plans to conduct several workshops for several public and private organizations and also a ‘grass root ethics development program’ for local communities. Programs such as ‘heartfullness’, ‘mindfulness’, ‘meditation’ and ‘intelligent spirituality tours’ are part of center’s agenda.
There is a humble attempt to discuss and understand intelligent spirituality and thus understanding a ‘sustainable mind’ which is already complete and fulfilled in all respects in the present that promotes sustainability as well. The Centre will also be holding several Conferences, Panel Discussions and will undertake consulting as well to achieve the objective of the Centre while promoting ethics and sustainability.
In addition to the Guest Lectures, Workshops and Panel Discussions, the center, in collaboration with JILDEE, also expects to design and deliver at least one training program for Govt. of India officials or any corporation on a topic which aligns with the focus of the research center, with the objective of increasing the visibility of our center.
