Lecture 6 and 7

Lecture 6: Friday, June 12, 2020, 11:00AM (New Delhi)

The speaker for the first lecture is Associate Professor Russell G. Thompson, Department of Infrastructure Engineering, Melbourne School of Engineering at the University of Melbourne.

Dr. Thompson will be discussing about “Logistics and Supply Chain issues in Australia during Covid19”. He will discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic led to numerous changes in logistics supply chains in Australia, including container volumes in ports, demand for food and other items, risks for vulnerable road users, road congestion levels, demand for eCommerce and storage levels of shipping containers. An overview of several initiatives such as lifting curfews, abolishment of duration limits in loading zones and increased expenditure on infrastructure projects will also be presented.

Lecture 7: Friday, June 12, 2020, 6:30PM (New Delhi)

The second lecture will be delivered by Ms. Vandana, Lecturer, Jindal Global Business School, O. P. Jindal Global University. Vandana will be talking about “Bio-diversity—Economy relations and the Pandemic: The Ideals of economic growth and making of the pandemic”. COVID-19, in addition to its disastrous impact on the world economy, has once again brought to the forefront the existing dilemmas related to our economy’s relationship with nature. While reviving the economy is crucial, it is extremely critical to also re-evaluate the direction of the existing economic thinking in light of the emerging evidence related to biodiversity loss and identified linkages/pathways through which biodiversity and human health are connected. This lecture is for anyone who wants to understand the economy-biodiversity-human health connection.
